Mashrafe Mortaza and Shakib al Hasan Axed From BCB Contracts:

In three different categories, Mashrafe Mortaza and Shakib al Hasan, two renowned players of the Bangladesh national cricket team have been plunged from the new central contract list of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

On Sunday, the BCB finalized a 16- players list at the meeting of Board of Directors, who are included in the national payroll. Out of those 16 players, only seven players were offered both red as well as a white-ball cricket contract, which will come to end up on 31st December 2020.

Reason Of The Decision:

The main reason behind the exclusion of Mashrafe Mortaza and Shakib Al Hasan is the retirement announcement of Mortaza from ODI captaincy and not to be considered as a consistent player of the Bangladesh national team whereas Shakib is facing a two-year ban by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for not conveying unethical approaches.

This Shakib’s ban comes to an end on 29th October 2020, which means that he can’t participate in the T20 World Cup, which is going to start on 18th October 2020.

Other Players Excluded From The Contract:

Apart from Mortaza and Shakib, Abu Hider Rony, Syed Khaled Ahmed, Imrul Kayes, Shadman Islam, and Rubel Hossain also have been cut from the contract.

Batsman Mahmudullah and bowler Mustafizur Rahman have been dropped from the Test contract and only included in the white-ball cricket.

Included Players:

Batsmen Liton Das, recently declared ODI captain Tamim Iqbal, Mohammad Mithun, Mushfiqur Rahim and spinners Mehidy Hasan, Taijul Islam were included in the seven players list who got the contract from BCB in all formats.

Mominul Haque, Test cricket captain, spinner Nayeem Hasan, pacers Ebadot Hossain, and Abu Jayed were given only red-ball contracts, while Mohammad Saifuddin, Mustafizur Rahman, Mahmudullah, Mohammad Naim and Afif Hossain, were given contracts only for ODIs.
