Earlier, the BCCI picked 6 cities for the 2 additional teams in IPL 2022: Dharamshala, Ranchi, Guwahati, Lucknow, Cuttack, and Ahmedabad.

The BCCI added Pune Warriors India and Kochi Tuskers Kerala as part of the IPL expansion phase in 2010. Nonetheless, the 2 teams were banned for many reasons.
