Current Form: Lucknow Super Giants

Lucknow Super Giants have been one of the most formidable teams this season. In their inaugural season itself, Lucknow has built a solid base for themselves. They assembled a strong squad in the auctions. LSG built on the good work in the league stages too. At the halfway stage, LSG had four wins from seven games. They went on turbo mode post the halfway stage. LSG notched up four wins on the bounce. The Lucknow Super Giants briefly occupied the top spot too.

But the game against the Gujarat Titans threw a spanner in their works. They lost both the game and the top spot. LSG then slipped to a loss against RR. The defeat against RR cost them a spot in the top two. LSG though returned back to winning ways in their last league game against KKR. They will be keen to build on the winning momentum.

Current Form: Royal Challengers Bangalore

The Royal Challengers Bangalore had to wait for the Mumbai and Delhi game to know their fate. MI’s win over DC helped RCB qualify for the playoffs. They will consider themselves fortunate to qualify in this manner. But RCB to their credit has done multiple things right this season. Their lesser-known players have taken the opportunities and delivered. Shahbaz Ahmed, Rajat Patidar, and Mahipal Lomror have all had breakthrough seasons.

RCB has three of its last four games. In their last league game against GT, it was Virat Kohli who put on a show. Glenn Maxwell then took over from Kohli to apply the finishing touches. RCB is winning not owing to its stars but owing to the collective team effort. They will look to break the eliminator rut as they take on LSG.

The stakes:

It is now or never for both these sides. The campaign will find a new lease of life for one while for the other it will mean an abrupt end. LSG and RCB will engage in a fierce battle to move ahead. It will be a firecracker of a game.
