All-rounder Thisara Perera Joined Sri Lanka Army
Sri Lanka all-rounder Perera accepted the invitation of Army Commander Lieutenant general Shavendra Silva to join the army.
This 30-year-old cricketer joined the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force in Gajaba Regiment. He will contribute his services to Sri Lanka Army cricket.
Perera represented Sri Lanka in all 3 formats of the cricket.
Thisara Perera played 6 tests, 161 ODIs, and 79 T20 matches. Overall, he played 225 international matches. His highest score in ODIs is 140. He picked up 5-wicket hauls 4 times in ODIs as a bowler. He scored 11,171 runs in his career.
This left-handed all-rounder played well in the domestic cricket league also. He started his career on 24 December 2009 against India in ODIs. He is one of the former limited-overs captains for Sri Lanka. Thisara Perera is one of the cricketers loved all around the world for his gentleman nature on the ground.
Thisara Perera tweeted about his army invitation on Monday.
“I accepted the invitation of Army Commander Lieutenant general Shavendra Silva in the first place & joined the Army. Getting an invitation from someone like him was one of the biggest achievements of my life. Thank you, Sir! I look forward to contributing my best to Army Cricket.”
After MS Dhoni from Indian cricket and Sheldon Cottrell from West Indies, Perera followed their footsteps and joined in the Sri Lankan Army and looks forward to contributing his best.
Former Sri Lanka captain also joined the Army.
Sri Lanka Former captain Dinesh Chandimal also joined Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force at the beginning of this year. He will help Army people with developing cricketing skills.
