On July 27, India was set to play the second round of the three-match T20I series versus Sri Lanka when startling news emerged in the camp. It was announced only hours before the match that all-rounder Krunal Pandya had positive tests for COVID. Pandya screened positive for the virus at the team’s routine COVID-19 test, and the 2nd T20I was canceled. Here is why SL VS IND 2nd T20I Postponed.

The series’ second T20I will now be played on July 28th, with the final T20I slated for July 30th. All close family members who had contact with Krunal were promptly isolated and are sticking to isolation guidelines. The 2nd T20I would be played if the remainder of the group tests negative on July 28.

SL VS IND 2nd T20I Postponed

“Krunal has tested positive and the T20I on Tuesday has been postponed and will happen on Wednesday if all the others test negative. The players are currently isolating,” a close source in the know of developments stated as reports.

In terms of the series so far though, India defeated Sri Lanka 2-1 in ODIs, and Suryakumar Yadav was named Player of the Series for his outstanding batting performance. The two sides are presently playing a T20I series, with India winning the first game by 38 runs and Bhuvneshwar Kumar being named player of the match after taking 4-wickets. Suryakumar once again with the bat, smashing a beautiful fifty to help India to a decent total.

“I thought we were 10-15 runs short. I feel we played quite well after losing early wickets. It was about one or two boundaries, we knew we could get going. He(SKY) is a great player and we enjoy watching him bat. He took the pressure from me and the way he plays calculated shots was amazing to watch. They were playing well, we knew our spinners will do the job on that wicket. Bhuvi bowled well, so was KP,” said Dhawan after winning the first T20I.
