Irfan Pathan, the former allrounder of India, came up with his suggestions for the Indian Team on Friday. He stated that Rishabh Pant will remain in the team, considering KL Rahul’s sudden rise as a wicketkeeper. During the 1st ODI, Pant had a concussion after which he was unable to play and was rested in the 2nd ODI.

KL Rahul, who kept wickets in his absence, was impressive with his glove-work and he also performed well with the bat. On Friday, Virat Kohli confirmed that for the upcoming matches against New Zealand, Rahul would continue as a keeper.

Pathan On Rishabh Pant

As the first T20I is to begin, Deep Dasgupta asked Irfan Pathan if Rahul kept wickets, then what would be the role of Rishabh Pant. “Irfan, there is a bit change in KL Rahul. Now, he is only as a batsman. Though, he has served as a wicket Keeper. Then, what will be the role of Rishabh Pant?” he asked.

In response, Pathan suggested that India is supposed to go with Rishabh Pant as for the team, he could be a good finisher. “As per the situation, Rishabh Pant will keep backing the team because, in him, they can find a good finisher,” Pathan said.

Pathan accepted that he failed to display his keeping skills in international cricket but added that he had performed well for Delhi Capitals, his IPL franchise. “Still, he hasn’t shown it. But we have noticed him during IPL where he helped the Delhi Capitals to win the match and in a good manner finished his game.”

Pathan added, “If Pant bats at no.6 and 7 Pandya comes down at no.7 as a lower-order batsman, it would be solid.”

In the first T20I of Auckland, New Zealand will take on India.
