The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have been one of the most consistent sides in the IPL. They have built an aura of invincibility around them. The key to their success has been the presence of international stars in their lineup. But owing to this principle, many of their lesser-known players hardly found a chance to break into the playing XI. This led to many players being released from CSK’s setup but surprisingly they flourished better in other teams.

StumpsandBails brings to you a list of 5 players who left CSK but had a great career post that:

#5 Samuel Badree( CSK in 2014)

Samuel Badree played for CSK in 2014. But he didn’t get a chance to prove himself. He got to play just 4 games and picked up 2 wickets. Badree was later picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2017. He immediately made an impact that season. Badree picked up a hattrick against Mumbai Indians.

#4 Vijay Shankar ( CSK in 2014)

Not many would be aware of the fact that Vijay Shankar represented CSK in 2014. He didn’t get enough opportunities to play for the yellow brigade. His moment under the sun came in 2018 when he plied his trades for Delhi Daredevils. Shankar is now an integral member of the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad since 2019.

#3 Wriddhiman Saha

Wriddhiman Saha was part of the CSK setup from 2011-2013. Saha got to feature in only 14 games in those 3 years. His IPL career was revived when he was picked up by the Punjab franchise. Saha’s moment under the sun was his IPL century in the finals of the 2014 IPL. Saha now plays for SRH and formed an interesting opening combination with David Warner in IPL 2020.

#2 George Bailey

George Bailey, the ever-smiling Australian is remembered for leading the Punjab Kings side into their maiden IPL final in 2014. Bailey’s captaincy drew great appreciation. He was seen as an ideal role model for youngsters. But Bailey began his IPL career playing for CSK. He couldn’t get going for the franchise and was picked up by the Punjab franchise in 2014.

#1 Chris Morris

Chris Morris made his IPL debut in 2013. He had a good first season with CSK wherein he picked up 16 wickets. But post-2013, Morris was overlooked in CSK and he soon found a home in Delhi Daredevils. He was among the 3 players whom Delhi Daredevils retained in 2018. Morris represented Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2020. He had wonderful seasons with both DC and RCB. Morris became the most expensive player ever brought in an IPL auction when Rajasthan Royals purchased his services for INR 16.25 crores.
