IPL 2022: Top 10 Bowlers

Batsmen can win you games but it’s the bowlers who win the championships. It is imperative for a champion team to have quality bowlers in their ranks. The success of GT and SRH is a testament to this fact. Both these sides have a minimum of 16 quality overs in the bank. These two teams sit on top of the tree. It is largely down to their varied bowling attacks. Here is the list of IPL 2022 Top 10 Bowlers in a week.

We Look At The IPL 2022: Top 10 Bowlers At The End of week four:

#10 Rahul Chahar (10)

He has been Punjab’s bowling mainstay this season. Rahul Chahar though has found little support from other bowlers. He has picked up 10 wickets in 7 games so far at an average of 19.40. His economy rate of 7.32 is pretty good. He strikes once every 15.90 balls.

#9 Mohammad Shami (10)

Post a sensational first game, Mohammad Shami got back into the groove in the game against KKR. Shami’s dipping white-ball credentials have received a new lease of life this IPL. He has picked 10 wickets in 7 games at an average of 20.20. His strike rate is decent at 16.80 but it’s his economy rate of 7.21 that has improved drastically.

#8 Wanindu Hasaranga (11)

The RCB spinner has had a quiet fourth week. He couldn’t add to his tally of 11 wickets in a combined two games. His average and strike rate has jumped to 20.18 and 14.18 respectively. Hasaranga’s economy rate of 8.53 is the highest among bowlers on this list.

#7 Avesh Khan (11)

He has picked 11 wickets in 7 games. His economic rate of 8.28 is on the higher side. Khan went wicketless in the seventh game upping his average to 20.09 with the ball while his strike rate (14.54) has increased a couple of points too.

#6 Khaleel Ahmed (11)

The left-arm seamer has been silently spectacular for the Delhi Capitals. Khaleel Ahmed who has had an indifferent couple of seasons in 2020 and 2021 has been on the money this year. The extra yards of pace have added to his artillery. He has picked 11 wickets in 6 games at an average of 17.27. His economy rate of 7.91 is pretty decent. He strikes every 13.09 balls which are brilliant.

#5 Umesh Yadav (11)

He had a telling role in KKR’s early success this season. Umesh Yadav has been off the radar post the first four games. But his initial success means he stays in the top-5 wicket-takers list. Yadav has picked 11 wickets in 8 games averaging 21.63 with the ball. He has conceded runs at 7.43 per over striking every 17.45 balls.

#4 Dwayne Bravo (12)

#3 Kuldeep Yadav (13)

He has found a new lease of life at Delhi Capitals. Kuldeep Yadav has picked 13 wickets in 7 games. He has been the best wrist-spinner along with Yuzvendra Chahal this IPL. Yadav averages 17.38 with the ball. His economy rate of 8.47 is on the higher side but his strike rate of 12.30 is fantastic.

#2 T. Natarajan (15)

He has continued to grow this season. Nobody had expected an injury-ridden T. Natarajan to be a force in this IPL. He has silenced many of his critics with his telling display. Natarajan has picked 15 wickets in 7 games. He averages 14.53 with the ball. He concedes runs at 8.07 per over. But it is his strike rate of 10.80 that stands out. #1 Yuzvendra Chahal (18)

For a third-week running, it is Yuzvendra Chahal who tops the wicket-taking charts. Chahal pocketed his first fiver in the IPL to go along with a hattrick in the IPL. He has picked 18 wickets in 7 games. His average of 11.33 remains steady this week too. He has conceded runs at just 7.28 per over. His strike rate of 9.33 is insane.
