Punjab Kings Strengths and Weaknesses:

Strengths:

With openers like Mayank Agarwal and Shikhar Dhawan, Punjab Kings have stable and consistent openers who are well versed in their job. The three experienced wicketkeepers in the form of Johnny Bairstow, Jitesh Sharma, and Prabhsimran Singh give consistency to the middle order. The team’s strength lies in its huge list of all-rounders on whom the Kings spent heavily. The likes of Shahrukh Khan, Odeon Smith, Liam Livingstone have shown their big-hitting mettle in the recent games for their respective sides.

The Vijay Hazare Trophy-winning captain, Rishi Dhawan, and his teammate and U-19 rockstar Yash Angad Bawa were great picks for the team who are proven match winners.

Even after losing Mohammad Shami in the auctions, the Punjab Kings won’t miss him much as the addition of Kagiso Rabada compensates it quite well. Rabada with Sandeep Sharma and Arshdeep Singh may result in being the most successful pace attack by the end of IPL 2022. Rahul Chahar is a shining IPL star and his contribution to the new team is something everyone will be looking forward to.

Anil Kumble being the Head Coach with Damien Wright as Bowling and the very best Jonty Rhodes as Fielding Coach are a team of great experts who can bring out the best from each player.

Punjab Kings’ full team squad assures them of multiple playing eleven combinations, all equally good. Their valuable investment in players with USPs gives them an edge over other teams and one can easily assume that they might finish at one of the top two spots at the points table.

Weakness:
Even though there are many positives to talk about but critiques may point to some areas where Punjab Kings lag behind.

For the past few seasons, Punjab Kings have struggled to find a dynamic captain. The stint with KL Rahul didn’t flare well and his release left a void in the team. The newly named Captain. Mayank Agarwal can be well trusted as a batter and opener, but to see him as a captain will be a new sight. He is inexperienced and there are chances of results going either way.

Punjab Kings have heavily invested in allrounders and the majority of the team consists of them. Out of 25, 11 are all-rounders, 8 are bowlers, 3 are wicket-keeper batters with only 3 specialty batters. The team is heavily relied on its all-rounders and may miss specialty batsmen in a batting crisis.

With only two players being retained, the team is illusively fresh. It will require some work for the Kings to bring the players together and form a bond that helps them win.

Every team has their weakness but to overcome and turn them into strengths is something Punjab Kings will look forward to-to bringing the title home for the first time!
