NZ vs IND: Rain spoils the game, as New Zealand win the ODI Series 1-0 against India

New Zealand vs India Third ODI Match Updates Live

NZ vs IND Match Updates: It’s 1:40 PM IST and Still raining. The umpires and ground crew are conversing. Even though there is still some time until the game can be called off, some spectators have already begun to leave.

In the third ODI, India was obviously well below par and desperately needed a spectacular new-ball burst to turn the match in their favor. Although both Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh had the ability to make the new ball talk, the first 10 to 15 overs of the chase told a very different tale about the game.

In the first 10 overs, New Zealand openers were able to score 43 runs. Both Finn Allen and Devon Conway stuck together and were playing a good inning but the rain spoiled the atmosphere as now the players wait for the rain to set back.

What will happen to the third ODI between NZ and IND

What would the DLS aim be if we only had 10-15 minutes to play two overs, considering that New Zealand is currently far ahead? Will it only take 2 more overs to complete the 20 overs. Just a matter of playing out the remaining two overs. What is the current DLS par score “Even though New Zealand has a 50-run advantage according to DLS, it won’t matter if we don’t get 20 overs.

That is insufficient because, potentially, New Zealand could lose 5 wickets in the following 2 overs, which would favor India. Therefore, even though the aim was already reached after 18 overs, the 20-over cutoff time still needs to be met.

However, New Zealand will need to bowl two more overs because the DLS target is only relevant after 20 overs have been bowled.

DLS Method Outcomes?

As of now there, can’t be a winner for this match as the second innings had only 18 overs bowled and as per the DLS method the Kiwis side should must play 2 more overs i.e; 20 Overs in total to win by the DLS method. Because they did not play 20 overs the officials might declare the match as No Result, if the rain shows no sign of stoppage.

What is DLS?

The Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method, or DLS method as it is now known as a mathematical framework used to determine target scores and outcomes in limited-overs games that are shortened by rain.

It was created by English statisticians Frank Duckworth and Tony Lewis and was first applied in 1997. Prior to the 2015 World Cup, Australian academic Steve Stern updated the formula and took on the role of custodian, adding his name to the title.
