India vs England 2nd T20I Match Update:
In the second T20 international at Edgbaston, England was bowled out for 121 and suffered a crushing 49-run loss, losing the match and the series to India.
Richard Gleeson (3-15), who had a tremendous international debut, helped England improve with the ball to limit India to 170-8, but in response, their top order was blown away for the second game in a row.
Jason Roy’s first-ball duck in the first loss on Thursday night was followed by one of his own in this match, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3-15) getting the ball to talk early once more as an outswinger nicked Roy’s outside edge through to slip.
When DRS picked up the faintest of toe edges to Rishabh Pant behind the stumps in Bhuvneshwar’s second over, Buttler (4) swiftly followed his partner back to the pavilion. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah (2-10) of India’s Test-playing contingent, who was back in the lineup alongside Pant, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja, bowled Liam Livingstone (15) through the gate with a masterfully disguised
There wasn’t much to cheer for the home team as they were bowled out in 17 overs, save from some lusty knocks from Moeen Ali (35 off 21) and David Willey (33no off 22) near the conclusion of the game.
Once more, England’s highest-ranking falls
Roy died on the first ball of England’s response as Bhuvneshwar once more sent the white ball swinging early on, which was a red flag from the get-go.
When Buttler was bowled in Bhuvneshwar’s second over, he was a little puzzled. The England captain was taken aback when UltraEdge, when India was using one of its reviews, detected a small nick behind that had first been ruled out.
Unconcerned by the early wickets, Livingstone settled into his rhythm quickly, hitting three boundaries in his first eight balls. However, he was beautifully duped by a slower ball from Bumrah, and he fell at the start of his ninth over.
Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal (2-10) added the scalps of Harry Brook (8) and Dawid Malan (19) before Bumrah made a comeback to cheaply claim Sam Curran (2) and leave England six down for just 60 early in the 11th over.
Moeen hit three fours and crossed the boundary twice as the hosts made a brief comeback, but he was eventually caught at mid-off by Hardik Pandya (1-29), and the next ball Jordan was given out horribly as England crashed to a humiliating loss.
