Bhuvneshwar Kumar, famously known as Bhuvi was born in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh on 5 February 1990. Bhuvi is an Indian right-arm medium-fast bowler. Bhuvneshwar is known for his ability to swing the ball both ways. He has been a crucial member of the Indian squad in all three formats for many years. His ability to swing the ball in both ways helped him in taking wickets in all the countries. In TATA IPL 2022, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was bought back by Sunrisers Hyderabad for a whopping amount of 4.20 crores and also captained the franchise in the last few matches of the tournament.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar made his domestic debut in Ranji Trophy at the age of 17 against West Bengal playing for Uttar Pradesh in 2007. His debut season was almost average but the bowler came into limelight in the Ranji Trophy season 2008-09 when he dismissed Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar on 0. This was the

first time in Sachin’s career that he got dismissed on 0. Bhuvneshwar had a magnificent season and he took 35 wickets in the season.

In 2012 Duleep Trophy, he made his maiden first-class century playing for Central Zone in the semifinal against North Zone. He was awarded with Man of the Match for his match winning performance.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar International Career

After giving some decent performances in the domestic circuit, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was selected in a limited over series against Pakistan. Bhuvneshwar Kumar made his International debut on 25 December 2012 in a T20I match and picked up 3 wickets by giving up just 9 runs. However, India lost the match. By giving a quality performance in T20I series, he earned a place in playing-11 and made his debut on 30 December 2012 and took his 1st ODI wicket on the very first ball.

In 2013, Bhuvneshwar Kumar made his Test debut against Australia, he didn’t bowl well in his debut test. However, he played a good role as a batter and scored 38 runs in a 140 runs partnership with MS Dhoni. In the second match of the series, he took 3 crucial wickets.

In the same year, he got selected in Champions Trophy team. He took 6 wickets in the tournament and was included in the team of the tournament.

In a tri-nation series in 2013 against West Indies and Sri Lanka, he was awarded with his maiden ‘Man of the series’ award.

In a forgettable test series for Indian test history in 2014 against England where India lost by 3-1, Bhuvneshwar bagged another ‘Man of the series’ title for his all round performance in the series. He took 2 five wicket hauls and made three half centuries in the tournament.

He failed to play matches in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 due to his poor fitness issues. He just played one match in the tournament.

Bhuvi was in and out of the team for a long run majorly due to his fitness issues. Kumar made a remarkable comeback in ICC Champions Trophy held in 2017 and was named in the Team of the Tournament.

In 2018, Bhuvneshwar Kumar became the first Indian bowler to take 5 wickets in all the three formats of Crickets after taking 5 wickets against South Africa in a T20I.

In 2019, Kumar took his 100th ODI wicket and was selected in Cricket World Cup 2019 but was ruled out due to his injury.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was then picked up in the squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in UAE in 2021.

Recently in June 2022, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was named as the vice-captain of the Indian team for the T20I series against Ireland.
