IND VS SA 3rd ODI Highlights: In the decider ODI between South Africa and India, the Proteas were choked and slammed by the hosts as they were bundled for just 99. India finished the chase in under 20 overs to win the match by 7 wickets. Kuldeep Yadav was awarded the Player of the Match award for taking 4 wickets for 18 runs.

South Africa Batting Blunder

Bowled out for just 99 in less than 28 overs, losing 8 wickets to spin as the Washington, Shahbaz, and Kuldeep trio had a good time on a surface that did provide some assistance but wasn’t completely unplayable.

Sundar quickly picked up de Kock. The stage was then set by Siraj, who zigzagged off the seam and used bouncers to take on the top order. Hendricks and Malan were his. The spinners then seized control. Markram was caught by Shahbaz with a peach that spun away. Klaasen was looking terrific, but the other end kept losing wickets. Miller and Phehlukwayo were both out, Kuldeep completed a hat-trick, and Kuldeep then finished out the innings. For 33 runs, South Africa lost their last six wickets!

India’ Chase

After their spinners combined to dismiss South Africa for their lowest ODI score against India and fourth-lowest in the format, inside 28 overs, India quickly claimed their seventh consecutive series victory. Shubhman Gill missed his half-century by 1 run. Eight wickets were split between Washington Sundar, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Kuldeep Yadav, who all contributed significantly.

In order to earn ten points, India was able to bundle the visitors out. That is the epitome of dominance. It wasn’t as if SA were fielding a weak team but they just couldn’t counter India’s intentions. A few batters were bounced by Siraj, while the spinners handled the remaining ones.

What Captains Said

Winning captain Shikhar Dhawan, says. “I am proud of the boys, the way they played. We showed a lot of character in the first game, we dropped a few catches, but we never really put pressure on ourselves. We tried to stick to the process. I am enjoying the journey, I’ll try to keep performing well for my team. The boys showed great character on such tough batting pitches. The bowlers were clinical today.”

South Africa’s stand-in captain David Miller looked disappointed, he says.  “Didn’t help to score just 99. A disappointing result to finish off the series in that way. There was a bit of spin, and it was two-paced, it was tacky as it was under covers due to the rain. We were really good in certain areas, we managed to find our feet. We just need to extend the good periods when it comes to ODIs.”

Player Awards

Mohammad Siraj is the Player of the Series for his five wickets in the series. “Performing against a good team gives you a lot of confidence. I had to take responsibility. I try to figure out the right lengths at the start of the innings. As a fast bowler, you need that fire and passion inside you.”

Kuldeep Yadav is the Player of the Match for his four-wicket haul. He says, “Feeling very happy, to be honest. The wicket was perfect and I am enjoying my bowling. I am not thinking too much about the result, just focusing on the process and focusing on my rhythm. I am trying to bowl in good areas. My next target is to perform well in the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament.”
