IND vs PAK Asia cup 2023: Arch-rivals India and Pakistan are again in the same group for the Asia Cup 2023, the head of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), Jay Shah, revealed on Thursday

Jay Shah, the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on Thursday unveiled the ACC’s 2023 and 2024 cricket schedules as well as a qualification system for the men’s and women’s Asia Cups.

“Presenting the @ACCMedia1 pathway structure & cricket calendars for 2023 & 2024! This signals our unparalleled efforts & passion to take this game to new heights. With cricketers across countries gearing up for spectacular performances, it promises to be a good time for cricket!,” tweeted Shah.

According to the revised calendar, the Men’s Challengers Cup, a ten-team fifty-over competition, will kick off 2023. There will be ten teams competing in this tournament, eight of which are Iran, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Bhutan, China, Myanmar, Thailand, and Bhutan. Two unnamed teams. There are two groups, each with five teams. There will be 23 games overall.

A Men’s Under-16 Regional Tournament will take place in March. Eight teams from different regions will compete in the competition.

Men’s Challengers Cup champions and runners-up will go to the Men’s Premier Cup, a 50-over competition. There will be 24 matches in this league, which will take place in April. Ten teams split into two groups of five matches each. UAE, Nepal, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Malaysia are the teams who have been officially confirmed for the competition.

The men’s Asia Cup, the ACC’s premier competition, will take place in September. There will be six teams total, split into two groups of three teams each. Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan are in one group, while India, Pakistan and Qualifier 1 (the winner of the Men’s Premier Cup) is in the other. The event will have 13 overall matches.

The venue of the Asia Cup 2023 is still not decided, though, since the BCCI reportedly rejected the notion of sending its men’s squad to Pakistan last year, sparking rumours that the competition would be moved elsewhere.

According to the ACC, 145 limited overs games (ODIs and T20Is) will take place over the course of the two-year cycle (between 2023 and 2024).

In 2023 there will be 75 games, while in 2024 there will be 70.

The last time both teams met in an international game, India won the match by 4 wickets.

That game saw India’s star Virat Kohli’s one of the best knock of his career, as he drove India from nowhere to finishing line and handed his side a nail-biting victory over arch-rivals in both teams tournament’s opener match.
