IND vs AUS Highlights Match 5 World Cup 2023
India continued their winning run against Australia after beating them by 6 wickets in their opening game of the ICC World Cup 2023.
Opting to bat, Australian batters found it hard to score, they somehow managed to pass the fast bowers test but got trapped by spinners and only able to post 199. Steven Smith remained the most run-scorer for the Aussies with 46, while Jadeja starred with the ball for India with 3 for 28 in 10.
Same was the story for India, as the top-order felt it extremely hard to pick the Australian bowlers’ deliveries and as a result India lost three wickets at just 2. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul then soaked the pressure and added 165 for the fourth wicket. Kohli struck 85, while KL Rahul remained unbeaten at 97 in the process.
IND vs AUS Highlights
Australia started their campaign with a shock as Jasprit Bumrah got out the dangerous Mitchell Marsh for a duck in third over.
David Warner and Steven Smith then steadied the ship for the Aussies in the extremely humid conditions in Chennai and added 69 for the second wicket before Kuldeep sent Warner back.
With all the spinners were at the attack, Australian batters, Steven Smith and Marnus Labuschagne, decently rotated the strike against the tough questions, but their stand didn’t go for long as Jadeja trapped the experienced Smith in his magical delivery.
Labuschagne then also walked back, as the pre-tournament favourites lost their next four in 21 runs.
Cummins (15) and Micthell Starc’s 28 provided the men in yellow some relief and they managed to post 199 on board.
Ravindra Jadeja was the pitch of the bowler for India with 3 wickets. Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav shared 2-2 wickets each, while Mohammed Siraj and Ravichandran Ashwin grabbed 1-1 each.
IND vs AUS Highlights: India to chase 200 in 50 overs
Chasing an under-par score of 200, India too faced a shaky start after they lost their first wickets in the opening over of their innings in the form of Ishan Kishan.
After the Mitchell Starc storm, Josh Hazlewood came with a solid plan too and dismissed the Indian skipper for duck and the Shreyas Iyer again on zero.
A drop by Mitchell Marsh in the eighth over when Kohli was on 12 costed Australia big time, as Kohli took the game away from Aussies with 85 off 116.
KL Rahul also played a superb knock missed the ton though, but his knock of not out 97 helped India win the game by six wickets and fifth against Australia in World Cup history.
