Batting Strike Rates In 2020s: It is the year of the ODI World Cup as teams put all their pieces together. The importance of posting tall scores won’t be lost on any team as the World Cup will be played in India. Indian pitches have largely suited batsmen in white-ball cricket. The shorter boundaries, dew, and two balls from either end tilt the balance even more in these conditions.
Teams will be aware they need to post an above-par score each game to stay ahead as batting gets easier as the match progresses. It is herein where the role of strikers becomes even more important.

#5 David Warner Strike Rate in 2020 – 93.81
There are many critics who are ready to write off David Warner. But he is the only Australian batter to feature on this elite list. Warner continues to be a force in white ball cricket. The southpaw has a tremendous record across all conditions in ODIs. Warner has scored 1,017 ODI runs in 25 games at an average of 42.37. He has a total of 9 fifty plus scores during this phase with 2 centuries and 7 fifties. Warner’s strike rate of 93.81 is the fifth highest on the list of batsmen who have scored 1,000+ runs in ODIs in the 2020s.
#4 Babar Azam Strike Rate in 2020 – 93.86
He has had a golden run in the last 4 odd years. Babar Azam’s strongest format has been the ODI format. He has broken records for fun during this phase. Azam has piled up 1,454 runs in just 21 games at a brilliant average of 76.52. He has scored 6 centuries in the process in addition to 9 fifties. Babar’s highest score in ODIs during this period was 158. He has struck these truckloads of runs at 93.86.
#3 Rassie Van Der Dussen Strike Rate in 2020 – 96.85
He has been a prolific run scorer in ODIs right since he made his debut. Rassie Van Der Dussen has notched up 1,015 runs in 23 games at a fantastic average of 96.85. He has been the rock around which the South African batting has revolved. RVD has scored 4 hundred and 4 fifties in the 21 innings he has played so far. His average has also been helped owing to the five not-outs he has had during this phase. RVD’s strike rate of 96.85 is superb!
#2 Virat Kohli Strike Rate in 2020 – 98.76
He is the master of the ODI format. Virat Kohli didn’t hit a single hundred for a good part of this decade. He turned a corner with a century against Bangladesh in December 2022. Kohli has since then hit two more centuries. Both his centuries this year came against Sri Lanka in the 3-match series. Kohli has scored 1,200 runs during this phase in 29 games. His average of 42.85 might not be of the lofty standards he has set for himself. Yet he has kept pace with the game. Kohli’s strike rate of 98.76 is a surprising second on this list.
#1 Shubman Gill Strike Rate in 2020 – 111.53
His ODI numbers are staggering. Shubman Gill has had a fantastic start to his ODI career. He made his ODI debut in 2020 and has gone on to play 19 games since then. Gill has scored 1,238 runs at a magnificent average of 82.53. He has also scored a double-century during this run. Gill has scored four centuries and five fifties with a top score of 208. His runs have come at a belligerent strike rate of 111.53! No wonder he tops this coveted list.
