Shreyas Iyer discusses his nervousness

With a hat-trick of undefeated fifties versus Sri Lanka to ensure India secure the T20I series 3-0, Shreyas Iyer played an important role and became the talk of the town. Shreyas improved his skills in the shorter format after starting his Test career with a century on debut. In an interview, Shreyas Iyer Discusses His ‘Nervousness’ for IPL auction.

His cool composure and clever shot selection drew the attention of the whole globe. Shreyas’ impressive form would no doubt amaze his IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and their supporters in the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.

Shreyas, who has been acquired by KKR for 12.25 crore, recently confessed how “nervous” he was while witnessing the IPL 2022 mega auctions on TV. As his name appeared on the television screen, he claimed that his “heart was pumping” and that he couldn’t “control his emotions.”

My heart was pumping, and I wasn’t able to control my emotions: Shreyas Iyer Discusses His ‘Nervousness’.

“Yes, I was watching the auction and KKR went for me right from the start. There were some other big franchises as well coming along and I remember the battle was going on. We, all of our (India) team members were sitting together and watching the Auction on TV”, said Shreyas.

“My heart was pumping, and I wasn’t able to control my emotions. I was trying to act relaxed, but you know, andar hi andar se, I was feeling a little nervous. Eventually, KKR got me, that feeling was amazing. I’m really proud, considering the rich history and to be coming into the KKR setup,” he added.

Shreyas talked about how important it is for him to don the KKR jersey as well as what it implies to him. He went on to state that his key focus would be on building a winning attitude in the squad and attempting to step into the shoes of the franchise’s previous successful players.

“You know, for me to be part of the KKR family is an enormous feeling. I want to really appreciate the work which has been done by all the great players in the past and I would like to follow in the same footsteps, that they have created for KKR. Personally, I feel that I’m a player’s captain and I want to create an atmosphere where all of us are thinking towards one goal, which is winning,” he added.

Shreyas had been a component of the Delhi Capitals (DC) team last year and even captained them in the 2019 and 2020 seasons of the competition before being succeeded by Rishabh Pant due to an unexpected injury.
