Australia’s star opening batsman, Aaron Finch has been signed by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for the IPL 2022 edition as a successor for England opening batsman Alex Hales, who withdrew from the competition owing to bubble fatigue. Here is all about Aaron Finch Joins KKR As A Replacement For Alex Hales.

Alex Hales is the 2nd England cricketer to take a prolonged vacation for the very same cause, after Jason Roy. Finch would replace in for Hales. He was previously featured for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Finch, who has struck 2000 IPL runs, in 87 IPL matches, now joins KKR for Rs 1.5 crore. KKR, who are the IPL title holders for 2 times, will open the IPL 2022 season on March 26 against the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. This season, KKR will be led by Shreyas Iyer.

Furthermore, this will also be Finch’s ninth franchise in the Indian T20 League, putting him the player with the most teams in the business. He has previously played for Rajasthan Royals-RR (2010), Delhi Daredevils-DC (2011 -12), Pune Warriors India (2013), Sunrisers Hyderabad- SRH (2014), Mumbai Indians-MI (2015), Gujarat Lions (2016,2017), Kings XI Punjab-PBKS (2018), Royal Challengers Bangalore-RCB (2020), and presently Kolkata Knight Riders– KKR (2022).

“Hi guys, I am sad to announce that I have made the extremely difficult decision to withdraw from the forthcoming IPL. Having spent the last four months away from home in restrictive bio bubbles’ and having tested positive for COVID myself in Australia, I don’t feel as though I can commit myself to another extended period within a secure environment,” said Hales in a Twitter statement.

“It wouldn’t be fair on the team or myself if I wasn’t able to perform to the level expected of me as a result of ongoing bubble fatigue.”

“I’m truly gutted to have to turn down one of the best opportunities of my career due to the toll that the last two years of bubble life have taken on my mental well-being. I’ll now take some time to rest and recharge ahead of the summer,” he added.

“I want to thank KKR for believing in me during the auction and for their ongoing support in recent weeks. I wish Baz, Shreyas, and the team the best of luck for the tournament and hope to see the Knight Riders fans at some point in the future,” he concluded.
