IND Likely To Field Reserves Against SL For The Final ODI

Prior to the team’s departure for the Sri Lanka trip, Rahul Dravid stated that as India A coach, he believes in offering every player in the team opportunities to participate. The batting icon, like with the India Under-19 coach, believes in the same idea. He had, therefore, stated that as India’s coach for this series, he would prioritize victory above giving younger players more opportunities. IND may field reserves against SL

India won the ODI series in Sri Lanka last Tuesday night, pedaling on the bowler Deepak Chahar’s amazing, uninterrupted 69. It was India’s 8th successive bilateral series victory in Lanka. India now has the option to innovate with their order in the last ODI of the series on Friday. They must recognize, though, that a 3-0 series whitewash will help them accumulate valuable points for the 2023 ODI World Cup, which will be held in India.

Chahar’s Brilliant Innings Put Lankans At A Disadvantage

In terms of pace, the coach may rest Bhuvneshwar Kumar and replace him with Navdeep Saini or uncapped left-arm paceman Chetan Sakaria, who is playing his maiden game at this stage. Similarly, any of the leggies, Kuldeep Yadav or Yuzuvendra Chahal, can be given a pass to promote Rahul Chahar, a promising leg-spinner, or Krishnappa Gowtham, an off-spinner.

India may want its players to be refreshed and relaxed ahead of the T20I series, instead of collecting discomfort in a meaningless match. The last ODI also provides a chance for opener Prithvi Shaw, who had looked promising until being dismissed for 43 and 13 in his first two appearances, to put up a performance that will cement his place as the T20 World Cup’s 3rd opener.

Sri Lanka has shown flashes of brilliance, but they must find a method to win games, especially versus India. They really should have won the second ODI, but brilliant innings by Chahar, as well as some poor fielding as well as bowling, put Lankans at a disadvantage, prompting a heated argument between coach Mickey Arthur & skipper Shanuka.

Sri Lanka Does Not Really Appear To Have The Capability To Support

They’ll take encouragement from the way Avishka Fernando, Charith Asalanka, and Chamika Karunaratne – who’s hit 2 quickfire 40s despite stepping in at No 8 so far – having batted in this series, although their batters must learn to score large runs when they get going.

Leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga was exceptional in the bowling department, taking 3-wickets in the last game and put India in the second position, while pacer Dushmantha Chameera seemed like a promising potential, but Sri Lanka does not really appear to have the capability to support even a respectable score.
