DC Confirms Rishabh Pant To Continue As Captain For UAE Leg

The Indian Premier League’s 2nd leg will begin on 19th September in the UAE. The Delhi Capitals have confirmed that Rishabh Pant would continue to captain the side for the remaining of the IPL.

Captain For Delhi Capitals For UAE Leg

In the unavailability of Shreyas Iyer, Pant was given the role of captaining the squad in the Indian leg of the IPL. Upon injuring his shoulder in the home series versus England, Iyer had to get shoulder surgery. He missed the IPL due to this ailment, which was cut short when Covid hit the camps of many teams.

Iyer, on the other hand, appears to have fully healed from his injury and appears to be in a good position to play the rest of the IPL. This turned the debate about the leadership of the Delhi Capitals. There were rumours that Iyer has recovered from his injury, he will captain the squad in the IPL’s UAE leg. However, the franchise has issued an official statement, putting a stop to all the guesswork.

The Delhi Capitals made an update on their official Twitter account addressing the situation. “OFFICIAL STATEMENT JSW-GMR co-owned Delhi Capitals today announced that Rishabh Pant will continue as Captain for the remainder of the #IPL2021 season.#YehHaiNayiDilli.” The Tweet read.

The Delhi Capitals enjoyed a fantastic first half of the Indian Premier League under Pant’s leadership. With 12 points on their card, the team now sits atop the standings. The Delhi Capitals have won 6 of their 8 games in the competition thus far. As a result, the side has opted to maintain the outstanding keeper-batter as captain.

Pant would be eager to take command of the field for the DC and make a positive influence on the team. He is an important member of the Indian team and will be looking to improve his form prior to the T20 World Cup.
