BBL: Russell Confine To Stay 2-meters Away From Teammates On His Debut For Stars

West Indies all-rounder, Andre Russell is scheduled to make his Melbourne Stars debut versus Sydney Thunder on December 10 at the historic Melbourne Cricket Ground. But, before taking the field versus Chris Green’s Thunder, the Jamaican must stick to a rigid set of restrictions. To begin with, the experienced is unable to contact physically his teammates. Here is all about the Melbourne Stars Sign Andre Russell For BBL.

Russell will approach the MCG via a secondary gate, use a separate staircase, and set it up in the dressing rooms. During warm-ups, he must keep at least 2 meters away from the players and support personnel. His dugout will likewise be separate from the rest of his teammates.

Russell will not be able to participate in high fives upon taking wickets, and a special microphone will be set up for him during post-match discussions. Russell would have to keep away from his colleagues after exiting the field and will join again after 7 days of quarantine.

According to reports, Cricket Australia set the guidelines and presented them to the Stars. The decision has been made with the health and well-being of the cricketers keeping the COVID-19 outbreak in consideration.

We cannot wait to see Andre at the MCG in front of some big crowds: Blair Crouch

Meanwhile, Stars head coach David Hussey was overjoyed to have Russell in competition for the T20 competition. Blair Crouch, the Stars’ General Manager, was similarly overjoyed with the addition of the Windies player to his squad.

“To have someone of Andre’s quality play for the Melbourne Stars is a huge signing for our club. We want our Stars family to watch the best players in action at the MCG and Andre is world-class. I can’t wait to work with him in the time that he’s here and look forward to his debut on Friday night,” Hussey was quoted as saying.

“We cannot wait to see Andre at the MCG in front of some big crowds this summer. At the Stars, we always strive to have world-class players for our members and fans to admire, and Andre falls comfortably into that category. We look forward to seeing him entertain and thrill everyone, starting on Friday against the Thunder at the MCG,” Crouch said.
