Bangladesh Won U-19 World Cup
Bangladesh won the 2020 U-19 World Cup against India by three wickets on Sunday in Potchefstroom. They won the game by the Duckworth-Lewis method as rain hit the final.
India made a score of 177 in 47.2 overs and sent away by Bangladesh. This is for the first time when India have bowled out in 13 innings. The Indian team slowly raised up after a slow start.
Man Of The Tournament Yashasvi Jaiswal
Opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal who quickly won popular acclaim in the ICC U-19 World Cup was the man of the tournament. He scored 88 runs in 121 balls in the final match. Earlier, his century in India’s 10-wicket win against Pakistan in the semifinal made him the top player. But India fell losing their last seven for just 21 runs after his wicket.
Jaiswal’s journey involves many emotional highs and lows. It includes both good times and also really difficult times.
Unbeaten Finalist
Akbar Ali, the Bangladesh captain won the toss and elected to bowl. Earlier in the tournament by winning all their five matches, India was unbeaten before the big finale match. India beat their chief rival Pakistan by 10 wickets in the semi-final match that held on Tuesday.
Bangladesh who was the first-time finalist appeared as an unexpected winner. They beat down New Zealand and South Africa in their journey to the finals. Bangladesh was unbeaten in the tournament.
Eye-catching Start By Bangladesh
Bangladesh got off to an eye-catching start with the opening pair of Tanzid Hasan and Emon while chasing a small score of 178 runs. They added 50 runs in just 9 overs.
However, Ravi Bishnoi’s bowling attack led to Bangladesh’s downfall. The spinner took 4 wickets in his 10-over. But his effort was not enough to make his team win as a strong 43 runs from 77 balls by the Bangladesh captain and a valuable contribution of 47-run by Emon covered the way for Bangladesh’s victory.
