Despite current captain Aaron Finch being previously ruled out due to a knee injury, Meredith’s setback comes at an unexpected time for the Men in Yellow, who were hoping to utilize the forthcoming matches as a warm-up for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, which will be contested in October.
Due to the absence of the right-arm pacer, Australia has recruited fast bowler Nathan Ellis to the national team. Last season, the 26-year-old surprised everyone in the Big Bash League (BBL) by taking 20 wickets in just 14 matches for the Hobart Hurricanes.
