ENG vs NZ Match Highlights:

As England and Newzealand play their 2nd Test of 3 match Test series, what we witnessed on Day 3 was nothing different from the previous days. The Trent Bridge pitch looked as flat as it could. There was no help from it the bowlers and as a result, we saw another day of runs pouring from everywhere and we saw another day of Joe Root showing us how prodigious he is.

As furious England reached 473-5 against New Zealand at the close of play on the third day of the second Test, Joe Root swaggered to a beautiful 163 not out and Ollie Pope made his highest Test total of 145. Root and Pope responded to New Zealand’s enormous first-innings score of 553 with a scorching run-spree at Trent Bridge on Sunday, taking full advantage of a docile pitch. With two days left in the Test, England is in a position to match or surpass New Zealand’s total thanks to the pair’s imposing performances.

The highlight of the day was yet again Joe Root giving us reason to stand on our feet and clap for the knock he played. The brilliant 163* that came at a great strike rate felt so easy like a summer breeze in England. He was quick on his feet, hit boundaries, and finished his 27th century. Root has now equaled the most centuries in the Test format among current players. Virat Kohli of India and Steve Smith of Australia are the other two players with 27 Test tonnes.

There is not much to expect from the match. It is set to move towards a draw because of the way it is performing and how comfortable the batters are playing on it. The fab 4 of the fast bowling, Jimmy, Broad, Trent, and Southee have not been able to make the best of their performance and will hope they take wickets on a regular interval.

England is still trailing by 80 runs. Joe Root looks strong in the middle with Ben Foakes who is keeping his innings slow and steady. We are hoping to see another double hundred from Joe as he continues this beautiful inning.
