WI vs BAN 2nd Test: West Indies defeated Bangladesh by a margin of 10 wickets in the second Test to win the series 2-0 at Daren Sammy Stadium. The hosts completely outplayed the visitor side as both tests were easily won in less than four days.
Bangladesh was bowled out by West Indies for just 186 runs after the first two sessions were postponed due to rain and a wet outfield. Three wickets were taken by Kemar Roach, Alzarri Joseph, and Jayden Seales, respectively. Bangladesh could only add 54 runs on Day 4 thus West Indies just only 13 runs to win.
The West Indies opening pair of Kraigg Brathwaite and John Campbell successfully chased down the target in 2.5 overs to bring the contest to a close in just four days. This loss is Bangladesh’s 100th loss in Test Cricket. The West Indies finished the game and won the series 2-0 in one hour and ten minutes. In all three departments, the hosts dominated both test matches.
West Indies’ hitters caused enough damage and their bowlers spat fire much beyond Bangladesh’s understanding. As far as the tests are concerned, the visitors have been in free fall. They would be devastated by the results of the previous few series because they know they are a better team than what the recent scorecards indicate.
The losing captain Shikib Al Hasan talked about the series loss as he said, “We always felt that in Test Format it was always going to be tough. We are going to play at home after a long break. We can reflect on these performances. I am not worried about batting. We need to be mentally tough. [On fast bowling] that’s the area we have improved the most in the last 3-4 years. We need to play as a team to win matches. We are a competitive team in white-ball cricket and I am sure it will be a competitive series”
Kraig Braithwait also shared his thoughts on the win and appreciated the boys as he said “ I think the confidence we got from winning the first game was nice. The planning and execution in this match were top-notch, as you can see from how Mayers played. There is always room for improvement. That’s one thing that we always want to keep doing, batting 100 overs whenever we bat. Kemar Roach is a legend of the game. You have to see his attitude off the field. Mayers is special. He is a match-winner. I believe in his ability. It’s good to get wins. Australia in Australia is going to be tough. Bangladesh bowlers were very good and it was tough. No matter what the team, you have to stick to your plans.”
The batters from Bangladesh once again gave up during the test series, lost their wickets, and were repeatedly left unprotected by short deliveries. Given their persistent batting issues, the Bangladeshi team’s administration has a lot on its plate. This is especially true in the batting area. Both test matches were significantly impacted by the impatience and attitude of the batters. The bowlers, on the other hand, battled bravely despite that their efforts were not converted.
Player Of The Match And Series: Kyle Mayers
This loss marks Bangladesh’s 100th test cricket defeat. In one hour and ten minutes, the West Indies completed the game and claimed a 2-0 series victory. The home team dominated both test matches in all three categories.
