It is infrequently to see skilled players on the crease walk away in the form of a run-out leading to a shortage of risk during the play. The exact situation happened in the last match involving RCB and CSK when Glenn Maxwell got run out while trying a single owing to a misunderstanding with his teammate Virat Kohli.
Glenn Maxwell hasn’t had a very good run as recently. The Australian’s poor start resumed in the match, as he was dismissed after scoring only three runs. Spectators began criticizing Virat Kohli for the latters’ departure, which sparked a backlash. MS Dhoni, on the other hand, grabbed the spotlight with his lightning stump.
RCB dropped quick wickets facing CSK after dropping their previous 3 IPL 2022 games. Despite winning the toss, CSK chose to bowl first, and RCB’s opening duo of Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis got them off to a fantastic start, but they surrendered 3 wickets after the score hit 79.
We felt there is enough tackiness in the wicket: Maxwell
Glenn Maxwell appeared to be in fine form, however, he was forced out to the pavilion following a run-out. Virat Kohli was on the swing to tackle the final ball as Ravindra Jadeja bowled the 9th over of the innings. Kohli and Glenn Maxwell, who was on the opposite end, drove it with soft hands to get a single.
Both hitters took a quick stop in the midst of the run, and Maxi was caught by surprise at the line by a throw from Uthappa. As expected, Dhoni expertly received the pass and cracked the stumps, forcing Maxwell straight to walk out from the crease.
“Over the moon. Really good bowling effort. We felt there is enough tackiness in the wicket that we were able to exploit with the spinners and for the pacers to hold their nerve against some powerful death hitters to finish off the game was good”, said Glenn Maxwell at the post-match presentation.
“Hopefully we can ride this momentum and winning momentum is hard to stop. Our bowling group are starting to gel and I feel we are going in the right direction. Hopefully, we haven’t left it too late and we can peak right towards the finals and find a way into the top four and do some damage in the finals” Maxi added.
