The Hundred: Cox’s unbeaten 61 goes in vain as Trent Rockets beat Invincibles by 25 runs

Jordan Cox’s entertaining 61 went in vain as in the seventeenth game of The Hundred in England Trent Rockets defeated Oval Invincibles by 25 runs.

Jordan Cox delighted the crowd with his exceptional power-hitting abilities as he played a magnificent knock of 61 off 33 with the help of 4 fours and 3 maximums, but it wasn’t enough to help his side gain two points in the 180+ run chase game in the 100 balls format.

He remained unbeaten till the end but couldn’t manage to guide his side to victory, majorly because of losing four early wickets and a lack of support from the other end.

The Hundred: Trent Rockets Vs Oval Invincibles Match Highlights

England’s International stars Alex Hales and Dawid Malan provided their team a blistering start by adding 84 for the first wicket.

Hales walked back to the pavilion after scoring 59 off just 29, his destruction provided a strong platform in front of other batters to put a big score on board.

Malan did a 38-run contribution, while Munro and Gregory remained unbeaten till the end with their valuable contributions of 24 off 13 and 23 of 12, respectively.

These innings were enough to post a mammoth total of 181 on board in 100 balls game.

In reply, Oval Invincible made a slow start and continue losing wickets in intervals.

At one stage of the game, they were at 78 for 4 in 56 balls and required 104 more to win in 44 deliveries.

Jordan Cox gave it his all by playing a breath-taking knock of 61 off 33 and did a good partnership with Sunil Narine in between, however, despite his efforts, Narine won’t be able to contribute much quickly as a result Invincibles lost the game by 25 runs.

With this win, Trent Rockets moved to second on the points table with 4 wins in 5 games. While Invincibles are standing on the 4th spot with 3 wins in 5.

The 18th match of The Hundred competition will be played between Southern Brave versus Manchester Originals on Thursday, August 18 at 11:30 PM IST.
