RR vs RCB Match Highlights: Jos Buttler’s Fiery Ton Against RCB Propels RR To Summit Clash

RR vs RCB Match Highlights: The Rajasthan Royals (RR) advanced to the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 finals with a 7-wicket victory against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Friday (May 27) at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.

Since neither team made any changes, the Royal Challengers Bangalore were given the first turn to bat. Before being captured behind against Trent Boult’s bowling, RCB opening batsman Virat Kohli blasted the game’s first six, which set the pace for the entire innings. Rajat Patidar, who partnered Faf du Plessis, the RCB captain, at the wicket, played two significant strokes for 4 in the penultimate over of the powerplay. As a result, he was offered a rescue, and the RCB scored 46 runs after losing one wicket.

RCB was put at 74/1 at the midway point of the match. The fifty-run stand was poised for the 2nd wicket, but RR managed to keep things under control with the ball. The conclusion of the pair came about as a result of Obed McCoy’s dismissal of du Plessis, who was out after being grabbed for a catch. The new batsman, Glenn Maxwell, had an early impression of Ashwin by hitting a six over the ropes.

Following Maxwell had scored a four and a six off Chahal in the previous over, the following over resulted in 15 runs being scored. Maxwell was having a rapid knock until Obed McCoy made a spectacular grab in the outfield off of Boult, which put a stop to Maxwell’s run. Although Patidar achieved his fifty in spectacular fashion with a maximum, the powerful right-handed batsman was grabbed at long-off by Ashwin while attempting to clear the fence.

RCB were 146/5 with two overs left to play when McCoy took his 2nd wicket of the match by getting rid of Mahipal Lomror. In the last over, on successive deliveries, Prasidh Krishna was able to get Karthik and Wanindu Hasaranga out of the game. During the last over of the innings, which was bowled by Obed McCoy, RCB recorded 157/8 in their first innings. During that over, Obed McCoy got his 3rd wicket, who was Harshal Patel and only allowed 3 runs to be scored.

RR got off to a flying start in their chase of 158, with Yashasvi Jaiswal hitting 2 sixes and a four in the opening over. At the other extreme, Jos Buttler put Siraj out of the room by hammering 2 fours and a big six.  While Buttler targeted Shahbaz Ahmed’s spin in the 5th over, RR contributed 19 runs to their total before the end of the over. While Jaiswal was scooped at point, RCB’s Josh Hazlewood took the first wicket of the match, however, RR was in good shape with 67/1 at the conclusion of the powerplay.

Jos Buttler smashed a 4 to get his half-century, and the captain, Sanju Samson, soon joined him on the field. The two proceeded to make it simple for runs to come in for RR, who reached 103/1 after 10 overs and were securely situated at the midway point of their innings. Before the RR captain was out trapped off Hasaranga, the 2nd wicket had reached the fifty-run partnership mark together.

As Devdutt Padikkal partnered with Jos Buttler, who was already established at the crease, the scenario for RR shifted to run-a-ball. Buttler hit two maximums off of Hasaranga after a few calm overs, which brought the total score down to 18 off of 24. Hazlewood took his 2nd wicket when the RR opener was moving towards a century. Padikkal, who was dismissed by Hazlewood after being caught behind in the 17th over, was the victim of this.

As RR comfortably pursued down the target with 11 balls to left, Buttler achieved his 4th century of the campaign and finished the match in flair with a maximum.

The phenomenal performance by Jos Buttler at the batting crease, during which he smashed his fourth century of the season, propelled RR to a clinical seven-wicket victory and clinched their position in the final for them.
