RCB vs GT Match Highlights: Kohli Stars As RCB Enters Top 4 To Keep Playoff Hopes Alive

RCB vs GT Match Highlights: ‘KING’ Kohli came back with a roar in the 67th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) against the Gujarat Titans, keeping the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) playoff hopes alive. However,  GT had no aspirations to modify their first-place position, but RCB has been promoted to fourth place as a result of their victory. It is worth noting that RCB played their last league match, therefore they have the only option of hoping that other teams lose their matches in order to secure them a playoff berth.

Despite winning the toss and electing to bat first, the Titans got off to a slow start, losing Shubman Gill 1 (4) and Matthew Wade 16 (13) within the power play for Josh Hazlewood and Glenn Maxwell, respectively. However, Wriddhiman Saha and skipper Hardik Pandya stood firm for LSG to establish a respectable score. Meanwhile, W Saha gave up his wicket in the shape of runout at 31-runs in 22 balls.

Pandya regained momentum with David Miller to compile a key 61-run wicket partnership. Meanwhile, W Hasaranga made an important breakthrough for RCB by removing Miller, who scored 34 (25) including 3 sixes. However, the next batsman, Rahul Tewatia, failed to maintain the tempo and was out for just two runs to Hazlewood.

Hardik Pandya and Rashid Khan put up a strong stand in the hope of scoring a huge run. Whereas skipper Pandya was unbeaten at 62 (47) with 4 fours and 3 sixes, Rashid was unbeaten at 6 ball-19 runs with 2 sixes and 1 four. Despite having lost 5 wickets in 20 overs, GT managed to post a decent total of 169 for RCB.

With their accuracy, RCB bowlers Hazlewood (two wickets), Maxwell (one wicket), and Hasaranga (one wicket) restricted GT to some point.

Furthermore, in chase of a competitive total, RCB enjoyed a fantastic start to the game, with openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis looking extremely aggressive with the bat. They punished every ball that had landed in their yard. The pair set up an incredible 115-run partnership for the first wicket. Rashid Khan launched an effort to disrupt the outstanding partnership as he dismissed Faf du Plessis at 44 (38). Glenn Maxwell then joined forces with the former captain for a quickfire knock aimed at clinching the playoff berth with the best NRR.

The pair built up a 31-run stand for the wicket to make the equation much easier before Rashid Khan made another breakthrough to dismiss well-established batsman Kohli for 73 (54), which comprised eight fours and two sixes. However, Glenn Maxwell and Dinesh Karthik were able to cross the finish line together. Maxwell contributed 40 runs in 18 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes with an undefeated knock.

Upon an outstanding batting outburst, RCB won the match over GT in just 18.4 overs. Last night, ‘KING Kohli‘ was at his best who made his bat talk and hence proved that ‘Class Is Permanent. With the victory, RCB surged into the top four and hopes to make the playoffs.
