David Andrew Miller was born on 10 June 1989 in Pietermaritzburg, Natal Province, South Africa. He is a South African left-hand batter. Miller has been a consistent part of the South African limited-overs setup for almost 6 years. David has stood as a pillar for his national side in the middle overs format for a long time now. Many Cricket experts and analysts have raised a concern that David Miller hasn’t done justice with his talent yet even after being a part of the South African team for almost 8 years. David Miller started off playing cricket at the age of 11 years. He did his early schooling from Maritzburg College in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. His father who was a club level cricketer in his early days, motivated and guided David in making cricket at his career. David played many club level matches during his college days and emerged as an aggressive batter with the time. He also gave some remarkable performances with his fielding.

After performing well for the club, David Miller was called up to play for his domestic side Dolphins. In Super Sports Series 2007 finals, David Miller made his debut. He scored his maiden first-class half century on his debut.

Miller played in 8 matches in 2007 for Dolphins but it didn’t go down well for him. He only scored 109 runs in those matches and his team finished at the 5th place in the season.

In 2009, David Miller was included in the South Africa A squad to play a series against Bangladesh A. He emerged as the second-highest run scorer in the series. His consistent performances in the domestic circuit helped him in getting a call out for the national side.

In May 2010, David Miller got picked up in a T20I series against West Indies. David Miller made his international debut on 20 May in a T20I match against West Indies. He helped his team in winning the match on the last ball by hitting a six. In the same series, David Miller made his ODI debut and helped in another win for the South African team.

Later in the same year, Miller was picked up in the squad against Zimbabwe. He was picked up in all the T20I and ODI matches and made his place in the team as a finisher. In an ODI against Zimbabwe, Miller smashed his maiden half century and helped his team in putting up a massive total.

After performing well in 2010, Miller was picked up in the ICC Cricket World Cup squad for South Africa in 2011.
