Bangladesh’s First Test Victory
On this Date in 2005: After playing the 35th test match, Bangladesh finally won their first Test match on this day in 2005, defeating Zimbabwe by 226 runs, and creating history. When given Test status in 2000, the team which has since fought for respectability became the world’s tenth Test team. On the last day, the squad won just before tea.
After that, the players raced in unison to rejoice, and coach Dav Whatmore soon joined them. Then, the players began to walk a lap of honor. This was more than a special day as in the history of Bangladesh this was their first test victory.
