NZ vs IND Second ODI Match Update

Handshakes all around after the second ODI is called off due to rain

NZ vs IND Second ODI Match Update: It’s time for handshakes now that the umpires have concluded their discussion with both skippers. When introducing themselves to one another, both sides appear to find the situation to be amusing.

Given the concerning rain forecasts we received in the days coming up to this game, it must be noted that this was always likely. Thus, India is now unable to win the series. There will be a lot on the line on Wednesday when these two teams square off in Hagley Oval, Christchurch.

NZ vs IND: Rain-Spoiled Indian Innings

Shubman Gill and Shikhar Dhawan led India to 22/0 in 4.5 overs, the first rain break came inside the first five overs. Eventually, after a lengthy pause, play began again, and the game was shortened to 29 overs per side. Immediately following the unavoidable break, Matt Henry packed captain Dhawan for 3 runs.

Before the game was again stopped by rain, Suryakumar Yadav and Gill went on to score 66 runs off just 46 balls for the second wicket. At that point, India had scored 89 runs off 12.5 overs of batting.

NZ vs IND: Surya and Gill’s Innings

Shubham Gill was once again close to scoring a fifty in the second ODI and he struck 4 fours and 1 six to reach 45* before the rain spoiled the game.

Surya was shifting his gears with boundaries and Kiwis skipper Kane Williamson brought back Lockie Ferguson as a weapon but it did not work this time as Surya hit him for a six and four. Before the play was stopped Surya scored 34 runs off 25 balls with three sixes and two fours.

NZ vs IND: Skipper Shikhar Dhawan’s Comments

Not in our control, you just have to wait. We were waiting to get the game started, can’t help it. Now looking forward to the 3rd game. I was quite surprised with the surface. I thought it would be seaming quite a bit, but it wasn’t as much as the last match. It was good to bat on and to see Shubhman perform this way was very encouraging

NZ vs IND: BCCI Tweet

After a long wait because of the rain BCCI officials tweeted saying “The 2nd IndvsNz ODI is called off due to persistent rain. We will see you in Christchurch for the third & final ODI of the series.”

NZ vs IND: Next Match?

On November 30 (Wednesday) at 7:00 AM IST, India will play New Zealand in the series’ penultimate and final ODI. India will try to win the final game and tie the series 1-1. While New Zealand will aim to win the final ODI match and win the series 2-0.
