The star all-rounder, who won the player of the match during the night of finals in the T20 World Cup 2022 between England and Pakistan, which England won, has broken all records in the history of the cash-rich league, as he became the most expensive player in the IPL history.

Curran declined to sign up for the mega auction in 2022 because he was recuperating from an injury and had already committed to playing Surrey’s opening County Championship games. However, the 24-year-old has been nothing short of sensational since making a comeback to the England white-ball team. In all facets of the game, he has been outstanding with the ball, and late in the innings, with the bat, he has contributed some significant runs.

The Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, and Chennai Super Kings all made attempts to sign Curran, who was recently named Player of the Tournament at the T20 World Cup in Australia, before Punjab entered the bidding war at the INR 13.50 crore mark. Then, The Kings defeated opposition from CSK, Lucknow Super Giants, and yet another late bid from Mumbai Indians to secure the player for a record sum.
