Ishan Kishan, Shubman Gill, or Ruturaj Gaikwad? Wasim Jaffer Explains the Situation with Team India’s Opening Player Using a VIRAL Meme

With a sequence from the classic Bollywood movie “Andaz Apna Apna,” Wasim Jaffer has accomplished it once more. Jaffer addressed the present issue of the opener’s dilemma that the management has to deal with after Shubman Gill scored a stunning 98* from 98 balls against West Indies in the third and final ODI. Before the West Indies ODIs, Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad were vying for the third opener’s place, but now Shubman Gill has entered the fray and, in line with Jaffer’s meme, has won the job.

In the just finished ODI series, Gill was named the player of the game and the series. He amassed 202 runs at an average of above 100 to solidify his position in front of the 2018 ICC competitions.

Take a look at this meme here that he had put out:

“Was aiming to achieve 100, but I had no control over the rain.” I was shocked by how quickly I was eliminated in the first two ODIs. I made an effort to play in accordance with the ball and then let my gut take control. I hoped for only one more and desired that. The pitch performed admirably in all three games. 30 over in, the ball was starting to grip a little. At the post-game presentation, Gill expressed his satisfaction with his performance.

The number one opening combo is thought to be KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma, with the others being viewed as their backup. Following the UK trip, Rohit had a vacation, while KL Rahul was unable to participate in the Windies tour due to Covid.
