Is IPL 2022 Really a Batter’s Feast?: When it was decided that IPL 2022 is to be played in Maharasthra, the one that resonated with all the cricket critics is ‘it will be a batting feast’ but it is the bowling performances like today’s that change our minds. Kuldeep Sen singlehandedly ensured a victory for Rajasthan Royal with his brilliant bowling spell of 3.3 overs, in which he took 4 wickets giving away just 20 runs.

In this tournament, Rajasthan Royals is probably the team that has scored the most runs in all. Despite that, they haven’t had a big margin win to their name. If we were to point fingers at someone, that could either be pitch or their bowlers. Having realized the pattern, Rajasthan has been trying to move a non-fixed bowler and take chance with a newer one in order to fill the gap. Obed Mccoy had a decent outing in his previous two matches, but he gave away too many runs only at the cost of a wicket or two which is not convincing. Kudos to Rajasthan for bringing in Kuldeep Sen, who may not have big numbers backing him but he has skills that work on this pitch. He proved it today and it worked massively in favor of RR even at a pitch like MCA that is called a batters heaven given the smaller boundaries and wet outfields at nights.

Apart from this intelligent move, we must talk about the player’s unease with the MCA pitch during the match between Rajasthan Royals and Bangalore. Having played consistently well and faced a variety of bowlers but none as deceptive as Harshal Patel or Hasaranga, we can expect Rajasthan to have a bad day. They at least had one performer from their side who was clearly middling the ball and fencing it out of the park in the form of Riyan Parag. What is concerning is the batting lineup of Bangalore which is laden with the biggest of names from the cricket fraternity and is still finding it difficult to face bowlers on an average pitch. The team has consistently shown their bad form as they previously scored just 68 against Sunrisers Hyderabad and today too got all out of 115.

Just like Rajasthan understood their problem area, it is a must for the Bangalore side too to realize the mistake before it is too late and must take action, even if they involve sacking big names from the team.
The teams are playing at their full power and being halfway through the tournament, every match from now on counts.
