It will gradually get more tough for batters. But the good ones have still found ways to excel. Here you can see the IPL Week Five Recap.
We Take A Quick Look At IPL Week Five Recap:
#1 The boss is back in the driving seat
In a shocking turn of events, Ravindra Jadeja quit as CSK’s captain. He requested former CSK skipper, MS Dhoni to take over the job. Dhoni it is learned, to accept the responsibility. Social media was abuzz with reactions. There were many who were delighted to see Dhoni returning as CSK’s skipper.
But there were few skeptics who questioned this move. They couldn’t understand why was Jadeja asked to captain the side in the first place. This move virtually rules out Jadeja’s leadership skills. Dhoni quite unsurprisingly led CSK to win against SRH. The boss is back!
#2 Mumbai open their account finally
It took 9 games and almost 5 weeks for Mumbai to win their first game. No team had lost their first 8 games before Mumbai. They had set all unwanted records this season. MI won the toss in their 9th game against RR. They put in a collective bowling effort to restrict RR to under 160. MI was in a spot of bother chasing this score too. But they overcame all odds to muster their first win. The captain, coach, support staff, and fans were more relieved than happy post the win. It really did take a long time coming.
#3 Bottom three are the ones who have 11 titles in between them
Nobody would have thought that the bottom of the pile will be 3 teams who have such a rich IPL legacy. Between Mumbai (5), Chennai (4), and Kolkata (2), there are 11 IPL titles. But IPL 2022 has been a totally different story for these teams. These teams have struggled for any sort of momentum. KKR who started with 3 wins in 4 games has lost 5 on the trot. CSK hasn’t been any better losing 6 out of 9 matches. MI fare the worst with just a single win in 9 games. CSK and MI though did end week 5 on a high with wins.
#4 The barren run comes to an end but the team paid the price
Virat Kohli was finally back among the runs. He scored his maiden IPL 2022 fifty. His half-century came against the table-toppers, Gujarat Titans. Kohli spent a good amount of time at the crease. Virat regaining his form augurs well for RCB.
But his laborious effort against GT cost RCB dearly. They ended up posting a score of 170 that was clearly 20-25 runs short on that wicket. RCB lost their third game on the bounce. But they will hope a firing Kohli to deliver more in the coming games.
#5 The week that was!
It was a week that saw what IPL is always known for. Kohli scored runs, Dhoni returned to captain CSK. CSK and MI winning games. The fifth week was surely a week to savor!
