Sunrisers Hyderabad suffered their fifth consecutive defeat as they were defeated by Kolkata Knight Riders by a score of 54 runs, at the MCA Stadium in Pune. From this setback, they have seen a huge drop in their net run rate, which means that their prospects of reaching it into the playoffs are now quite bleak. Here in this article, we have talked about KKR vs SRH Match Highlights, Andre Russell kept KKR’s Playoff Hopes Alive by winning against SRH.

KKR vs SRH Match Highlights: Having won the toss and elected to bat first, KKR’s innings got off to a sluggish start as they lost their opening batsman Venkatesh Iyer for only 7 runs off 6 balls against Marco Jansen. The combination of Ajinkya Rahane and Nitish Rana contributed 48 runs to the wicket. Meantime, SRH’s quick Umran Malik made a crucial breakthrough by removing Rahane and Rana in the very same over.

Shreyas Iyer, the captain of KKR, came up with a lot of confidence and got 15 runs off 9 balls, however, he was unable to hold the momentum with him after being removed by Umran Malik, who has the 3rd wicket to his account in the match. Sam Billings struck an important knock to register 34 (29), but it came up short to face Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Andre Russell, the top all-rounder for KKR, produced a quickfire knock by striking the ball fiercely all over the park, which prompted the SRH bowlers to sweat. He scored 49 runs off  28 with a strike that was perfect, composed of 4 sixes and three fours. Dre Russ did an outstanding job finishing out the innings for KKR, helping them to post a respectable total of 177/6.

Umran Malik took 3 wickets for SRH, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jansen, and Natarajan each took one wicket to limit the KKR to a manageable score. W Sundar, on the other hand, went wicketless after returning from injury, bowling a costly over that yielded 40 runs in 4 overs.

SRH got a solid start in the pursuit of a good total, with openers Abhishek Sharma and Kane Williamson posting 30 runs to the first wicket. However, thanks to Sharma, as Williamson  9(17) struggled and fell short of Russell’s line and length. Rahul Tripathi followed the footsteps of his skipper, losing his wicket for only 9 runs for Southee.

Abhishek Sharma with his steadiness added 43 runs off 28 balls before coming up short for mystery spinner Chakravarthy and Aiden Markram with a key knock scored 32(25) before being removed by Umesh Yadav. Nevertheless, except for the duo- the remaining SRH hitters failed to score runs were all fell short in quick sessions. With his all-around effort, Andre Russell had a stellar performance picking up 3 wickets to reduce SRH to 123 runs. Where KKR won the match by a massive margin of 54 runs.

With this victory, KKR will have the potential to get to the playoffs and must win the upcoming matchups to seal the playoffs position. On the other side, SRH lost the confidence to reach the playoffs place as they experienced 5 straight defeats.
