ICC women’s ODI rankings: India’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur at 20th position

Thanks to her 3 for 18 against South Africa on Monday, Katherine Brunt is back among the top 10 bowlers in the ICC women’s ODI rankings. On the strength of standout performances in the third ODI against Sri Lanka, India’s opener Smriti Mandhana and left-arm spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad have moved up to the ninth rank in the ICC batters’ and bowlers’ lists, respectively.

Chamari Athapaththu climbed to No. 8, where she previously stood following her record-breaking 178 against Australia in the 2017 World Cup, to claim her joint-career-best position. Harmanpreet Kaur, who won Player of the Series honors after scoring 119 runs and taking two wickets, rose four positions to No. 20 in the all-rounder’s rankings.

As a result of her 88 off 73 in the first ODI against England, Chloe Tryon, who was a few spaces behind at No. 22, gained 12 positions and rose to No.

As there are still two ODIs left, Brunt and Tryon’s places might change. The match-winning 94* Smriti scored in the second ODI, however, as part of a record-breaking 174-run partnership with Shafali Verma, attracted attention to her steady ascent. With Gayakwad getting 3 for 36 and Harmanpreet scoring 75 before capturing the crucial wicket of Athapaththu, Gayakwad and Harmanpreet successfully concluded the series. Harmanpreet ended with 1 for 21.

In the second ODI, Athapaththu batted at No. 3 to debut Vishmi Gunaratne, and he had a few strong starts. She rose two ranks thanks to her 44 in the last game of the series.

Shafali and Nilakshi de Silva increased their positions in the batters’ list from the previous week by three and ten spaces, respectively, to reach positions 33 and 47. Inoka Ranaweera of Sri Lanka made the top 20 bowlers, moving up five ranks from the previous week to finish in 16th place, while Meghna Singh of India advanced four spots to finish in 43rd place.

One of the newcomers, centurion Emma Lamb, rose 76 positions to 101 after inspiring England to victory with her first century, which she concluded with 102.
