Ricky Ponting Selects Jasprit Bumrah Over Shaheen Afridi
Introduction
For the past few years, Jasprit Bumrah and Shaheen Shah Afridi have excelled in international cricket. They have given numerous standout performances to lead their side to illustrious victories and have developed into key players on their teams. Both fast bowlers frequently compare themselves to one another, and former Australian captain Ricky Ponting has his opinion on the subject.
Pakistan has a reputation for producing top-notch fast bowlers. India, on the other side, has just begun to unleash some bowlers of the highest caliber. Currently, Jasprit Burmah and Shaheen Shah Afridi are two of the world’s top pacers.
In T20I cricket, Jasprit Bumrah and Shaheen Shah Afridi have outstanding records. Shaheen Shah Afridi has bagged 47 wickets in 40 games whereas the Indian bowler has 69 in 58 games.
Ricky Pointing comments
Recently, Ricky Ponting chose Jasprit Bumrah as his preferred bowler over Shaheen Shah Afridi. He declared he would choose the Indian bowler over the Pakistani player.
In a recent interview the Australian legend Ricky Ponting stated saying “Look, how do you split those two guys? They are two of the best performing bowlers in the world in the last couple of years in all formats of the game.”
He then added saying “I’ll probably go on experience alone – I’ll go for Bumrah. He’s played a fair bit of cricket in Australia now, played more in Australia than Afridi, and has played more big tournaments as well than Afridi has.”
Both of the best pacers have missed the past few months due to injuries. Before the T20 World Cup, Afridi is anticipated to fully recover from his knee injury, while Bumrah is set to play in the Australia series after recovering from a back issue.
India is now playing Australia and hopes to win the series after losing the first game by a narrow margin.
