Ranji Trophy: Madhya Pradesh beat Mumbai to win maiden Ranji title

Ranji Trophy 2021-22 Winner:

The Madhya Pradesh cricket team created history on Sunday when they defeated Mumbai by 6 wickets at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru to grab their first-ever Ranji trophy title.

Under the leadership of Aditya Shrivastava, the team defeated 41-time champions Mumbai to script history.

Playing in the first Ranji Trophy final after 23 years, MP beat all odds and beat the pre-tournament favourite and 6-time Ranji Trophy champion Mumbai.

In the 1998-99 season, MP played against Karnataka at the same venue but was unable to win and lost the match by 96 runs. Chandrakant Pandit, who was the skipper of Madhya Pradesh then, bring joys as the head coach, leading it to a memorable victory.

MP Vs MUM Match Summary:

Sarfaraz Khan, who came at no.3, kept the scoreboard moving while playing the spinners brilliantly. Parkar, on the other hand, completed his half-century in some time.

However, Parkar was out in the very next over got out. Yashasvi Jaiswal walked back to pavilion after scoring just 1. Sarfaraz Khan completed his season with 982 runs from nine innings at an average of 122.75.

Kartikeya and Sahani eliminated the remainder of the tail, setting a target of 108 for their maiden title.

Mumbai was dismissed for 269 runs thanks to the combined efforts of Parth Sahani (2/43) and Kumar Kartikeya (4/98).
