PAK vs NED 3rd ODI Match Highlights: In the third ODI, played on Sunday, August 21 at Hazelaarweg in Rotterdam, Pakistan survived a determined effort from the Netherlands to win by nine runs and take the series 3-0.
For the most part, it appeared that the Netherlands will be able to chase down 207 runs and would defeat Pakistan, especially during a 71-run fourth-wicket stand between Tom Cooper and Vikramjit Singh. However, Naseem and Wasim bowled with a calmness that belied their inexperience, taking nine wickets between them to end the game and completing a 3-0 sweep. This was when the pressure was at its highest. The Netherlands batsmen were unable to win the game, in the end, thanks to Naseem’s career-best figures of 5 for 33 in his ten-over period and Wasim’s 4 for 36.
Pakistan has dismissed for 206 in 49.4 overs thanks to a miserly bowling effort by Netherlands, giving the home team a great chance to win. The majority of Pakistan’s innings were marked by unusually cautious batting; the team’s 30-over total of 105 was its lowest since the 2014 Asia Cup final.
The next-best Pakistani partnership was a 46-run one between Babar and Agha Salman for the third wicket as the Dutch continued to strike often to break up promising alliances. The Netherlands bowlers used variations on a two-paced wicket to limit the number of runs scored. Later in the innings, Mohammad Nawaz also hit a few maximums while Babar also blasted seven fours and two sixes. However, generally, Netherland bowlers put on an economical performance to restrict the visitors.
Bas de Leede, the player of the series for the Netherlands, once again displayed outstanding ball control as he raced through the middle order, hitting three times to keep Pakistan from ever really getting going. A modest total was all Pakistan could generate in the absence of a supporting cast or a burst of pace. Babar Azam was the only batsman to maintain the innings, with a solid 91 off 125 balls.
