No restrictions on retaining players before the mini-auction
The Board of Control for Cricket in India launched the Indian Premier League, a professional Twenty20 cricket league, in 2007. The league’s fifteenth season is referred to as IPL 15 or, for sponsorship purposes, Tata IPL 2022.
Plans for the future
It is believed that the BCCI has started planning for the upcoming IPL season, and the mini-auction will take place in Bengaluru around the third week of December. By November 15, the 10 IPL (Indian Premier League) franchises must submit their list of retained players.
Additionally, it has been learned that the pay cap for the upcoming season will be raised from Rs. 90 to Rs. 95 crores.
IPL Mini-Auction
There is no such cap for the mini-auction leading up to the IPL 2023, in contrast to the mega auction last year, when two new franchises were added and the old clubs could keep a maximum of four players. Each team will have an extra INR 5 crore to spend in addition to the money that had left over from the previous auction.
The return of home and away games
The home-and-away format will resume, according to the reports. In his letter to the state associations, former BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has previously reaffirmed it.
Purse Left from the previous year’s auction
Punjab Kings – 3.45 Cr
Chennai Super Kings – 2.95 Cr
Royal Challengers Bangalore – 1.55 Cr

Kolkata Knight Riders – 0.45 Cr
Gujarat Titans – 0.15 Cr
Mumbai Indians – 0.10 Cr
Sunrisers Hyderabad – 0.10 Cr
Delhi Capitals – 0.10 Cr
Lucknow Super Giants – 0
High Demand for Foreign Players
With Pat Cummins receiving INR 15.5 crore from Knight Riders in 2020 and Ben Stokes receiving INR 14.50 crore from Rising Pune Supergiant in 2017, international players have frequently been among the top earners in mini-auctions.
The need to fill Vacancies
At the previous auction, three teams Kings, Capitals, and Super Giants bought just seven foreign players as a result, they might be searching for a player to fill the final opening. To fill vacancies and increase their budgets, other teams can release one or more of their international players.
During the IPL 2022, six clubs also brought in injury replacements. These franchises will need to determine whether to keep the replacement player, the original player, or both if the player cap permits.
