Injuries Overhaul Team India Dugout: When a player is injured after another, something is amiss with Team India’s setup, especially with its support staff. After all, it is shameful to imply that the injuries sustained during the Bangladesh tour. Players for Team India have spent more time recovering in the physiotherapy room than they have on the field making runs and claiming wickets.

An ex-trainer for Team India has criticised the present system for its unprofessionalism and the recent wave of injuries. Additionally, it is said that BCCI would let go a few support staff employees due to their subpar work.

Injuries Overhaul Team India Dugout

Only 13 players remain in the 18-player initial roster for the Bangladesh visit who are currently healthy. Before the series had started, Mohammad Shami was already out. Despite the tragic injury to Rohit Sharma, Deepak Chahar is back at the NCA with a hamstring ailment. Even the captain, Rohit Sharma, expressed his anger at the injuries.

The majority of the cricketers who suffer injuries this year haven’t even played a lot of cricket. Rohit Sharma, who has been a mainstay in T20Is this year, hasn’t participated in many Tests and ODIs, primarily because of rotation and then injuries. Former Team India Trainer Concerned Over Players’ Injuries

Speaking to a news publication, a former Team India trainer who was a member of the support staff for the team that won the World Cup in 2011 stated that given the number of support staff members, the current situation is a cause for serious concern.

He thinks that while on-field injuries are unavoidable, player injuries resulting from poor fitness are a major worry. Team India has a big problem because it has happened twice in the last two years.

He said, “There have to be the right people to make the system effective. There is a lack of professionalism as far as the strength and conditioning and physical fitness are concerned. Someone has to take responsibility, rather than pointing fingers in various directions.”

According to reports, the BCCI plans to take some severe measures regarding the future of the support workers. Along with Nitin Patel, other coaches who will be held accountable include mental conditioning coach Paddy Upton, fielding coach TK Dilip, and strength & conditioning coach Soham Desai.
