India bowled out for 169 despite half-centuries from Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma

IND-W Vs ENG-W 1st innings update: After playing an exceptional game of cricket in the first two games, the Indian batters failed to display a similar kind of approach in the third ODI on Saturday as the women in blue only managed to put 169 runs on board in 50 overs at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.

Smriti Mandhana tried her best to add some runs on board with a half-century knock, while the all-rounder Deepti Sharma also recorded unbeaten 68 runs to guide India reach a somehow respectable total of 169 runs in 45.4 overs.

In search of clean sweep, team India faced a not so familiar start as they lost their four main batters under 30.

Indian batters were seen clueless in front of Kate Cross, who bowled Shafali Verma and Harmanpreet Kaur.

Smriti Mandhana then try to soak some pressure alongside Deepti Sharma. Both added 58 runs for fifth-wicket.

But it was again Cross, who bowled Mandhana this time to put the women in blue in pressure. Dayalan Hemalatha too walked back after scoring just 2 runs.

Deepti Sharma, however, continued with her fighting approach and played an innings of 68 not out in 106 deliveries. Her knock included seven fours.

Apart from Smriti and Deepti, Pooja also tried and added 22 to the total of 169 runs in third ODI.

Kate Cross took the highest number of wickets for England. While Freya Davies, Sophie Ecclestone

India already won the series by winning the first two games. In third ODI today, they try to complete a clean sweep and give a memorable farewell to the highest-wicket taker in the one-day internationals, Jhulan Goswami, who at Lord’s today playing her final international match of her long 20-year career.

It will be now, however, a wait and watch game to witness if the Indian bowlers would defend the total or not.
