Cameron Green was unplayable for the Proteas on day 1. The young all-rounder bagged 5 wickets and record his first-ever fifer in test cricket.

After being invited to bat, the Dean Elgar’s side faced somewhat similar kind of situation as the first test. After losing their their top five batters at the score of just 67.

They were on the verge of another 100-less score, but a decent 112-run partnership between wicket-keeper batter Kyle Verreynne and Marco Jensen steadied the ship of the visitors.

Things were looking in control for the visitors but Verreynne’s dismissal’s again opened the chance for Australia. And as expected they took no time then to restrict the opposition.

After facing a humiliating defeat in the first test, South Africa came in Melbourne with a motive to score big in the second test to remain in series contention.

Their batters prepared for the top Aussies bowlers. Starc, Cummins and Lyon, but the player, who recently received the second highest bid in the Indian Premier League, came out of syllabus for them.

Usman Khawaja, one of a quartet of South African pacemen who underperformed horribly with the new ball, edged Kagiso Rabada indolently for the lone wicket.
