CPL match Highlights: St Kitts & Nevis vs Saint Lucia Kings

Saint Lucia Kings have thrashed St Kitts & Nevis Patriots by 49 runs in THE 20th match of the Caribbean Premier League at Brian Lara stadium, Trinidad.

After winning the toss St Kitts decided to bowl first, in hope of restricting the Saint Lucia side to less score. Coming on to bat first Du Plessis and J Charles gave a good start for the Lucia side as both of them scored 48 run partnership. Du Plessis scored 41 runs from 21 balls with five fours and two sixes, on the other hand, J Charles scored 61 runs in 41 balls with six fours and three sixes.

After the fall of du Plessis’s wicket, Lucia was losing wickets at regular intervals but everyone contributed a little bit to set a decent total to defend. St Kitts bowlers bowled pretty well as Rashid Khan, Pretorius, and DJ Bravo picked up two wickets restricting Lucia to 189/7 in 20 overs.

In response, Kitts came on to bat and lost both their openers quickly and things were getting difficult, except Dewald Brevis 32 runs knock no one else really kept going to chase down the target. St Kitts was cleaned out for 140 runs in 20 overs, resulting in Saint Lucia King’s victory by 49 runs.

Lucia’s bowlers bowled pretty well as Kesrick Williams and David Wiese picked up three wickets, and Roshon Primus picked up 2 wickets each helping Lucia to clean out Kitts’s batting line-up.

After the match, Du Plessis was disappointed and said that “On a wicket like this, you got to get ahead in the game as it slows down after the powerplay. It was brilliant of him (Wiese). His lengths were really good and were spot-on today. If everyone is playing their role well, makes it that much more easier for the skipper.

David Wiese was the player of the match for his incredible performance with the ball and also his cameo in the batting helping Lucia win the match.

The victory propelled SLK to third place with 6 points from 7 games. Because of the significant loss, SNP had a negative Net Run Rate of -1.349,  however, they stayed in fourth place with 6 points.
