The 1st match of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2020 between Trinbago Knight Riders and Guyana (TKR) and Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) is scheduled to be held on 18th August 2020, at the Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad.

Tribango Knight Riders (TKR), the winners of 2025, 2027, and 2018, completed their third last season. From Guyana Amazon Warriors, they lost both group matches and also surrendered in front of Barbados Trident. Previously in the final match of the 2018 CPL, they have defeated the Amazon Warriors. TKR will start this year CPL as joint-favorites, however with a strong team and important players back in competition after injury-filled 2019 campaigns.
So far, Guyana Amazon Warriors have never won the league but have completed as runners-up in each of the last two editions and five among seven in total. They are without skipper Shoaib Malik but a couple of major players remain from the previous edition- Chandrapaul Hemraj starred in both victories against the Knight Riders, while Brandon King was the top scorer of the tournament.
