ECB Apologized Chris Woakes

When England left for Sri Lanka during January this year, the England all-rounder took a taxi with another England player Moeen Ali from Birmingham to Heathrow Airport.

Chris Woakes later expressed that he was disappointed and it was the only thing that got into his head in the Covid-19 time and felt bad about it. He further stated that he got compensated for his bad judgment to share the cab.

Woakes said – “It was a big moment and there have been apologies but we were put in an unfortunate situation and I missed out because of that. I vented my frustration at the time. No stone has been left unturned during Covid but that’s the one thing we did not get right. I paid a price for that. I thought I was a shoo-in for the first Test”.

“It doesn’t mean I would have then played all Tests but I would have had a chance to put my hand up and put in a strong performance. Not playing all winter after the summer I had felt like a waste. You want to make the most of your form when you’re hot,” said Woakes.

Missing Tests is frustrating for Woakes but he might get a chance in the upcoming series where 3 ODIs and 3 T20s are scheduled. Woakes will be happy to get into the playing XI for the upcoming matches and he is hopeful to continue his outstanding form.
