CPL 2022: Shamarh Brooks century helps Jamaica Tallawahs reach CPL final

It will be there third final CPL final, having won the title in 2013 and 2016. This time they will meet Barbados Royals in the title game on September 30. Barbados too have won 2 CPL titles till now.

It was Brooks unbeaten hundred that helped the side gain a lead from beginning of the game as Tallawahs managed to put 226 on board in 20 overs. Later, their bowlers restricted the Warriors side to 189 for 8 to secure a 37-run victory and a berth to CPL final.

Guyana Warriors after winning the toss opted to bowl first. Their bowlers proved the decision right by removing both openers of Tallawahs early.

Shamarh Brooks, who came at one down, first did a 55 runs partnership with Rovman Powell in 35 balls. Then he added 52 alongside Raymon Reifer in 39 balls.

Rovman Powell, the skipper played a knock of 37 off 23. While Reifer scored 22 off 22.

Tallawahs were at 123 for 4 in 15.1 overs and everyone was anticipating a 180 around target. But, Brooks has something in mind. He took the whole charge of smashing boundaries in his shoulders and recorded an unbeaten hundred to guide Tallawahs add more 103 runs in final 29 balls.

He smashed 109 not out off just 52. His knock included seven fours and eight sixes.

The only thing between Warriors and the win was Brooks ton as the Warriors required to chase 227 to secure final berth.

Romario Shepherd (2) took the highest number of wicket for Warriors. However, he gave 43 runs in his 4 over spell.

In reply, Amazon Warriors faced a setback as Paul Stirling walked back after scoring just 2.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Shai Hope tried to bring back Warriors in hunt by playing quick-fire knocks. But they didn’t sustained the momentum as they both out after a small destructive knocks. Gurbaz scored 22 off 16. While Shai Hope recorded 31 off 13.

The man in-form Shakib Al Hasan failed this time as he only managed to score 5.

Keemo Paul was the only saviour for Warriors in the chase as he smashed 56 off 37 with the help of seven fours and a six.

The skipper of Warriors Shimron Hetmyer also failed to impress as his knock of 15 was not satisfactory not for him nor for his side as the Warriors, who were playing good cricket from last couple of games lost the chance to secure the final berth by 37 runs.

Imad Wasim was the most economical bowler for Tallawahs as he conceded only 25 in 4 overs and also took 2 wickets in the process.
