Shakib Al Hasan clinched four wickets for just eight runs in his international return to claim an easy six-wicket win for Bangladesh against West Indies in their first one-day international in Dhaka on Wednesday. BAN vs WI: Shakib Al Hasan Was Named The Man Of The Match

Bangladesh cleaned-up the visitors for just 122 runs and chased the score easily in 33.5 overs. Skipper Tamim Iqbal led his side in the batting department as he chalked up 44 runs in 69 balls. Shakib Al Hasan played a cameo of 19 runs, which was enough for his side to go 1-0 up against the West Indians in the three-match ODI series. West Indian spinner Akeal Hosein bagged 3 wickets by leaking 26 runs. However, Hosein’s decent effort couldn’t dent Bangladesh’s easy chase. Mushfiqur Rahim (19*) and Mahmudullah Riyad (9*) did the work for the Bangladeshis.

“No complaints, we bowled extremely well. Not just the spinners, but the pacers as well,” said Tamim in a post-match interview. West Indies skipper Jason Mohammed stated that he was let down with his side’s performance. “It wasn’t easy to start on, but we didn’t have enough guys getting partnerships, and those who got starts didn’t carry on,” he said. The Bangladeshis swiped the floor with the young West Indian side. The hosts were clearly the dominant force as they will be eyeing a wash-out over the visitors. The remaining two ODIs will be played on 22 January and 25th January, respectively.
